She was an avid reader and was known to complete one or two books a week. Surviving are her beloved husband and best friend, Paul Konowitch; her loving children, Jeffrey and Margo Konowitch; her loving mother, Marie Blackwell Deppen; and devoted sister, Nancy Semels (Daniel). Visiting was Jan. 31 at the Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home in Dobbs Ferry. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She and her family owned and operated a small local grocery store in Irvington during the 1980s, before she retired. There was nothing he couldn’t recreate and he passed on that creativity to his children, who grew up with an eclectic set of talents. George Rainer Irvington resident George Rainer died Friday, Dec. 9, at home. He was 91. George was born in Vienna, Austria, on Jan. 13, 1925 to Arthur and Margit Rainer.
